Key Performance Indicators model is a way of monitoring and analysing performance. To be useful, they have to be understandable, measurable and meaningful.

You will need: Pens, post-it notes, paper, camera


  1. Group a Business designer or a business consultant together with a larger team

  2. Set the target for each performance indicators

  3. Prepare a pre-defined business process

  4. Prepare requirements for the business processes

  5. Prepare a quantitative/qualitative measurement of the results and comparison with set goals

  6. Communicate to the team about the KPIs

  7. Analyse variances and adjust processes and resources to meet KPI goals

  8. Create a document specifying KPIs and set goals. This could benefitfrom the use of interactive visualisation tools. Re-visit this exercise regularly.
